It's that time again! Time for another entry into our long-running GAMES OF THE WEEK series.

If you're looking for the best five games which have hit the iPhone, iPad and/or Android stores this week then you've landed yourself at the exact right place at just the right time. Lucky, lucky you.

With this article, we've skirted around the droves of subscription services (Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass, GameClub, and all of their friends) which have launched onto mobile platforms over the years. We also don't factor in things like Steam Link, Xbox Game Pass or Google Stadia which allow streaming to handheld devices. And, of course, let's not talk about in-house streaming, things like Remote Play.

What that means is that our list is a finely curated list of brilliant, fresh titles which you can download and play without subscribing to, or installing, any third-party initiative. Instead, you just grab them from the appropriate app store and off you go. Of course, there are some absolutely fantastic games on those services, but, let's focus on the stuff that you can grab right now.

We've got everything from low-poly shooter through to a stunning pixel-art Metroidvania, there should be something here for everybody this week.

Remember, if you're looking to check through some of our previous selections then you can always do that at our Games of The Week Hub, it's a great way to find games to fill out that empty storage space on your phone or tablet. Or, if you like your news in bitesize chunks, delivered straight to your palm then maybe follow us on Twitter or join our Discord.

Anyway, without any further delay, click on the big, blue button below to find out more about what we believe to be the top five of the games which released on mobile devices over the last week.

321 Shootout

Available on: iOS + Android
Genre: Action, Shooter

321 Shootout

We're seeing more and more shooters making their way to mobile, be that due to the popularity of Call of Duty Mobile, the Battle Royale genre, or just because screens are getting bigger and so the controls are getting easier. For whatever reason, it's given us the fantastic 321 Shootout, a natty looking FPS with a great minimalist, low-poly style.

Something about it hearkens back to that nu-age of FPS, games like Goldeneye and Timesplitters - and that goes from visual design through to the feeling as you play. It's a good one, albeit a bit tougher than those older titles.

Genre: RPG
Find out more about Bless Mobile
Bless Mobile

The Bless series isn't quite a household name, but looking back at Bless Online and Bless Unleashed, it's easy to see how it will become one. It's got all of the features that you'd expect in a modern, blockbuster MMO from PVP combat to farming and economy systems. Bless Mobile manages to do all of that in a sweet, tidy little mobile package and there doesn't appear to any cracks in the design - it runs smoothly and robustly.

Micetopia

Micetopia is a charming Metroidvania where you take on the role of a mouse warrior who must journey through the titular kingdom as you try to save it from dark, evil forces. It comes complete with all of the normal Metroidvania features; exploration laced with mechanic unlocks which create an expanding world full of secrets. It's previously released on consoles and PC, where it was very well received.

Pink

Available on: iOS + Android
Genre: Puzzle
Find out more about Pink
Pink

Bart Bonte is back (as I write every time he releases a game), this time with another entry in his phenomenal colour series. This time it's Pink! If you played any of the series before then you'll know what to expect: stacks of puzzles where you need to interact with the screen to make it all change to the colour that the game is named after. You'll flick on light switches, tap numbers, pop obstacles and more as you try and clear through the levels.

It's free to play and features a great, ad-powered, hint system. Give it a go!

5
Ammo Pigs: Cocked and Loaded

Available on: iOS
Genre: Action
Find out more about Ammo Pigs: Cocked and Loaded
Ammo Pigs: Cocked and Loaded

The third entry in the Ammo Pigs series is out now. Ammo Pigs: Cocked and Loaded combines the classic platforming shooter genre with a great retro soundtrack and a simple, fun gameplay loop. If you've enjoyed the other two then don't even hesitate to pick this one up. It's amazing just how many games Cascadia manage to put out every year - they released both Moon Raider and Mighty Aphid last year, and don't look like they're slowing down for this year.
