It's that time again! Time for another entry into our long-running GAMES OF THE WEEK series.

If you're looking for the best 5 games which have hit the iPhone, iPad or Android stores this week then you've landed yourself at the exact right place at just the right time. Lucky, lucky you.

With this article, we skirt around the droves of subscription services (Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass, GameClub, Hatch, and all of their friends) which have launched onto mobile platforms over the years. We also don't factor in things like Steam Link or Google Stadia which allow streaming to handheld devices - and would open up this list to almost every game under the sun.

What that means is that our list is a finely curated list of brilliant, fresh titles which you can download and play without subscribing to, or installing, any third-party initiative. Of course, there are some great games on those services, but, let's focus on the stuff that you can grab right now.

This week you're going to be exploring your way through wonderful worlds in just a fistful of words, fighting back against the darkness to save your tribe and guiding friends through an interactive drama. That and much, much more.

Remember, if you're looking to check through some of our previous selections then you can always do that at our Games of The Week Hub, it's a great way to find games to fill out that empty storage space on your phone. Or, if you like your news in bitesize chunks, delivered straight to your palm then maybe follow us on Twitter or join our Discord.

Anyway, without any further delay, click on the big, blue button below to find out more about our top five of the games which released on mobile over the last week.

Kingdom of Heroes: Tactics War

Kingdom of Heroes: Tactics War is a tactical RPG where you collect heroes and battle against seemingly insurmountable odds on hex-based grids. It's all dressed up in a fantastic, jRPG style reminiscent of the PS2 peak within the genre, Our reviewer, Jon B, recently wrote about it, stating: "Despite a couple localization issues and the normal pitfalls of gacha, Kingdom of Heroes: Tactics War offers players a dynamic combat system and a wealth of content to explore." It's available for free on both iOS and Android devices.

The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores

The Bonfire 2 Uncharted Shores is finally here. Much like the first title you'll be trying to grow your village while fighting back the dark creatures which haunt the night, however unlike the first game you'll be doing it in a beautiful, 3D isometric viewpoint. There's also plenty of new features beyond the strategic implications of a 3D space, building and expansion is completely restructured and villagers have much more visible traits, making for a much more immersive survival experience than the thrilling first game.

It's available now for iOS devices, where it's $4.99.

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

Following on from the recent release of Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc, Spike Chunsoft have now launched the anniversary version of the sequel as Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. It's been redesigned to include a better UI as well as refined touchscreen controls; Great news!

For the uninitiated, Danganronpa 2 has you, and your classmates, trapped on a mysterious island and forced to kill each other by a peculiar monochromatic bear, until only one student survives - however it actually plays out closer to the popular Ace Attorney series, focusing more on dialogue than brutal, fast-paced action.

If you're interested then Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair will set you back $15.99 on iOS or Android.

Ord.

Genre: Adventure
Find out more about Ord.
Ord.

Ord. is an absolutely delightful text adventure game which does something incredibly clever. It removes descriptions and elaboration from the game, stripping a sweeping adventure story down into (often) single word sentences and options for which you can progress. What's really great is that it leaps around a lot, and you'll start to recognise patterns and grow familiar with things as you restart, which results in it leading you down completely different paths.

It's available now for both iOS and Android devices, you can also grab it through Steam.
