It's that time again! Time for another entry into our long-running GAMES OF THE WEEK series.

If you're looking for the best 5 games which have hit the iPhone, iPad or Android stores this week then you've landed yourself at the exact right place at just the right time. Lucky, lucky you.

With this article, we skirt around the droves of subscription services (Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass, GameClub, Hatch, and all of their friends) which have launched onto mobile platforms over the years. We also don't factor in things like Steam Link or Google Stadia which allow streaming to handheld devices - and would open up this list to almost every game under the sun.

What that means is that our list is a finely curated list of brilliant, fresh titles which you can download and play without subscribing to, or installing, any third-party initiative. Of course, there are some great games on those services, but, let's focus on the stuff that you can grab right now.

This week we've got two games build around level creation (or, indeed, game creation), a fantastic two-player port, a long-awaited RPG and more.

Remember, if you're looking to check through some of our previous selections then you can always do that at our Games of The Week Hub, it's a great way to find games to fill out that empty storage space on your phone. Or, if you like your news in bitesize chunks, delivered straight to your palm then maybe follow us on Twitter.

Anyway, without any further delay, click on the big, blue button below to find out more about our top five of the games which released on mobile over the last week.

Levelhead

Almost years after they announced it, Butterscotch Shenanigans, creators of the indie hit Crashlands, have released Levelhead. For those who haven't been following it intently for the last two years, it's a level-creator platformer fusion - and according to our fellow Steel Media site, 148Apps, it's pretty damn good.

Legends of Runeterra is available for both the AppStore and Google Play now, and there's a high chance that if you're reading this that you already know all about the game. If that's not the case though then, well, it's a card-game take on the incredibly popular League of Legends Moba. You can expect a high-quality setting and style, and one coupled with crazy characters which fans of the series will already be familiar with.

Find out more about Kingdom: Two Crowns
Kingdom: Two Crowns

Kingdom completely revolutionised strategy games when it released many, many years back. Kingdom Two Crowns continues to build on that - as you might be familiar, if you've played it on the other formats it launched on - by being just as challenging and fun, but also two-player.

We've played a little of the game and it's a fantastic port, it's also incredibly portable.

Echoes of Aeons

Genre: Adventure, Retro, RPG
Find out more about Echoes of Aeons
Echoes of Aeons

After eight years of development Echoes of Aeons is finally available. It's a no-nonsense RPG which, despite its age, cuts out a lot of the slower-elements of retro-RPGs. It's realtime, it's direct, and it is non-stop. The artwork is also beautiful.

Fancade

Developer: Martin Magni
Publisher: Martin Magni
Available on: iOS + Android
Genre: Arcade
Find out more about Fancade
Fancade

Our last game is actually closer to a platform, but we let it in anyway. Fancade is a charming creation and distribution toolkit where you can make your own little games and share them with other people.

Being able to create a game, or design levels, within other games is certainly something that is becoming more and more frequent. But unlike most other creations which allow it, Fancade already has thousands of game which can be played on it -- that's both intriguing and amazing.
