Disappointing news for some...?

If you're waiting for Fortnite on Android you might not be getting it through Google Play

If you're an Android user and Fortnite lover, you'll have been waiting for the game to come to Google Play for a little while now. Well, according to XDA Epic Games might be swerving past the popular app store altogether.

As is stated, lines within the source code of the Fortnite Mobile page on Epic Games's official website show instructions on how to download the game on Android phones. From the looks of things, you'll have to download Fortnite via the website and agree to a number of security permissions before playing, which really isn't surprising.

You can't argue the game's success on iOS alone considering its $150 million turnover since March earlier this year, and with Android on the way that figure's bound to boom. Since Apple reaps a 30% cut on Epic's profits, it makes sense for them to try to avoid publishing on the Play Store when they don't really need to.

Everyone and their nan has heard of Fortnite, so it's not like they need to push for publicity. By publishing the game independently it means Epic won't be subject to using Google Play's in-app billing system and will get to keep all of the profits. Only time will tell whether Android-users will be as eager to spend money as iOS-users.

Another tidbit of information on XDA reveals that Fortnite may be launching as an exclusive for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 for about 30 days. Not to worry, though. When it launches worldwide, there should be about 40 devices supported.
