Over at the San Diego Comic-Con, Fox Interactive, QMx Interactive, and Spark Plug Games have announced that Joss Whedon's Firefly is being turned into a social RPG for Android and iOS devices.
There have been rumours about an MMO version of Whedon's cowboys and spaceships TV show ever since it was cancelled over ten years ago, but this is the first time something official has even been announced.
According to a press release spotted by NeoGAF, you are cast as a ship's captain in Firefly Online, and you are out to make some serious money in the Firefly universe.
You'll need to hire a crew, take jobs, and make sure your ship stays in the air. There'll be ship-based missions in addition to the ones that take place on different planets in the Verse.
Aside from the trailer above and a pretty scant press release, we haven't got much to go on. Although tagging the game with the term 'social' is enough to set a few alarm bells ringing around these parts.
Firefly Online is scheduled to debut in summer 2014, so the developers have got plenty of time to impress us with hawt gameplay details.
In the meantime, we'll keep you updated with any information on Firefly Online that flies into our inbox.
