Updated on June 11th, at 9:20: Square Enix has now released screenshots and a trailer for Final Fantasy VII G-Bike.

You can see the screenshots in the 'Screens' tab at the top of this article.

The trailer, meanwhile, is right below. Enjoy.

According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Square Enix and CyberConnect2 will be releasing Final Fantasy VII G-Bike on iOS and Android this autumn in Japan.

It's based on the combat biking mini-game found in Final Fantasy VII's amusements location (the Gold Saucer). So, you can expect to be riding a motorbike and dispatching Shinra motorcyclists to protect a truck.

Famitsu reports that you'll be able to jump and slide on the motorbike in this mobile version. Neither of these features was present in the original game.

There will be multiple bikes from which to choose here, by the way. Plus, you will be able to customise elements using "Materia".

Apparently, Square Enix has plans to port other Gold Saucer mini-games over to iOS and Android, too.

Perhaps that rumoured Final Fantasy VII snowboarding mini-game will finally surface on mobile, then...

@Malboardsworld that makes sense. I've heard plenty of people complaining that their old iPhone 4 can't run Dragon Quest VIII very well. I mean, it's a PS2 game, so I can totally understand that it needs a newer device. So, with the 3D Final Fantasy games, I'm sure SE wants to get the most sales and positive feedback as possible. One or two more generations of the iPhone, and I think a majority of people will be able to purchase and play it. Hoping, anyways. Until then, it would be awesome if SE would make a new game based on the FFVII universe, that's not a cash-in like this might be. I'll buy this for sure, but imagine how cool a whole new 3D RPG based on FFVII Advent Children or something!

curtisrshideler I think the reason why is the huge fanbase and reputation behind it, The company is sitting on this game, if they were to botch/take away things for the mobile release it will have serious backlash from the core fans so I don't think they want to take the risk just yet, or at least until the wider population has powerful enough devices to play the game smoothly without the need to cut out features and lose quality in order to fit on mobile. I don't think this game is a good idea either though as yes it's just going to get slammed for being a cash in rather than releasing the whole game. I don't see why they can't work on a completely new series for android instead of wasting time and resources on these ff spin offs.

This sounds like it could be fun. But since I own FFVII and can emulate it on my current iPhone, I might wind up playing the actual full game more than this! But, being I love the series, I'll probably throw my money their way anyway.

I don't know why they don't just offer FFVII part 1 and FFVII part 2 as full apps. Or maybe even break it up by disc. Or, even better, compress it a little and give us the whole flippin' game already. But until then, I'm thankful for emulation and save states!
