Release date for remake of Dreamcast classic Expendable announced

Last month, we posted a trailer for the remake of the hit Dreamcast classic Expendable and now we have some news - including a release date - to go along with that video.

For those unfamiliar with Expendable, the top-down shoot 'em up plays like a sci-fi version of the venerable Gauntlet, with the wizards and elves replaced by flamethrowers and machine guns.

The Android remake of Expendable, known as Expendable Rearmed, is no mere port of the original title, however, and features updated graphics and more intense gameplay than the original PC or Dreamcast releases of the game.

Expendable Rearmed will be available for most Android devices when it launches on November 8th, with better graphics and effects available for owners of Tegra-powered devices.

Rearmed and ready

While Expendable didn't make it onto our list of Dreamcast games we'd like to see on iOS and Android, it's absolutely great to see another Dreamcast title join Crazy Taxi and Soul Calibur in the mobile gaming marketplace.

Based on the fan response to Expendable Rearmed, it would be even greater if a few of the games on our list were overhauled for modern mobile devices.
