Play! emulator lets you play PS2 games on an Android tablet... sort of

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to play your favourite PS2 games on an Android tablet, the Play! emulator has you covered.

Well, kind of. While you can play PS2 games through the emulator, which is an impressive feat in its own right, it does have some major problems.

A video of Final Fantasy X running on the emulator shows that the text is mostly gibberish, loading times are horrendous, and it runs at a snail's pace.

The virtual controller is also lacking quite a few controls, including analogue sticks and shoulder buttons, which limits how many games can be played.

But it's still early days for the emulator, and if the progress made on the Dolphin emulator is anything to by, it could well be running smoothly at some point.

If you're interested in testing it out for yourself, you can get involved over at the Play! Google+ community page.
