Last week at a Morgan Stanley Technology Conference, EA's chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said that his company would be building micro-transactions into "all" of it games.
According to Jorgensen, however, his comments were simply misconstrued, and in-game purchases won't be present in every EA title.
Good news, right? Sort of.
Speaking at today's Wedbush Technology Conference in New York City, Jorgensen clarified his comments, and revealed that "all [of EA's] mobile games will have micro-transactions in them".
This is apparently because "almost all of them are going to a world where they are play for free".
The brighter side of life
EA's recently released Real Racing 3 is a free-to-play title that's packed full of in-app purchases.
It still managed to race its way to a Pocket Gamer Gold Award, though, so micro-transactions aren't necessarily the end of the world if they're implemented properly.
So, listen up, EA: we don't want to be shelling out real-world cash to repair and polish Lionel Messi's football boots. We'd rather not have to put our hands in our pockets to purchase bullets, either. Okay? Good.
