Mythic and EA have announced that they're working on a new Dungeon Keeper game for iOS and Android, which is set to be released towards the end of the year.

Simply called Dungeon Keeper, the game is all about building your own subterranean hellhole, filling it with traps, tunnels, and bloodthirsty minions who are willing to indulge your every whim.

EA is promising a blend of strategy, building, and tower defence, all wrapped up in a free-to-play package.

You'll be able to invade other players' dungeons and unleash hell with your Hand of Evil, leading your minions to victory and occupying the underworld piece by piece.

It'll be interesting to see how EA and Mythic mix a free-to-play system with the strategy of the original games. This iOS and Android iteration is certainly looking the part, mind, with chunky cartoon graphics and pleasantly dank caverns.

Dungeon Keeper is scheduled for release in winter 2013. Until then, why not check out the screenshots in the gallery at the top of the page.

This was one of my favourite PC games back in the days. I really can’t wait to have Dungeon Keeper on my Android device now that it’s been announced by EA. I have really been into mobile games lately, considering how mobile I am. Ninja Barbecue Party https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.virgoplay.application.ninja_bbq_party is among the titles to have entertained me a great deal this summer. In the wait for Dungeon Keeper, this slicer game can be considered as a great time killer.

The graphics is just one small aspect to the game, for me. I'd be more interested to know about gameplay, like... if I can still slap my minions. Muahaha. I loved the DK series, and I'm just glad that some people out there are still making more of it.

F2P and IAP can be good, and it can be bad. We'll just have to see when it comes out - and thanks to it being free, you can do so without paying anything. I always read negative comments about F2P and IAP, but my stand is to try it and see how they've implemented it before I criticize it. Funem, you are free (pun unintended) to try the game to see how the IAP is implemented, then you can choose to play on without the IAP, buy some IAP, or delete the game. However, I think just shunning the game from the start without even giving it a chance, is just being unfair to the game.

To be fair, the dirty, squalid graphics of the original were largely due to the fact it ran in 320x200 pixels with a 256 colour palette...

Its going to be free to play, the graphics have been ruined from the original version, its all to cute now, should look dirty and squalid like the original. EA have decided this will be a freemium title, this and the graphics change have put me off of what was one of my favourite all time games. I love mobile gaming but Freemuim and IAP's have ruined it. I don't mind paying for games but I don't like drip feeding me bits of a game as long as my wallet is open. EA and Gameloft are the worst at this, and they will continue to be like this whilst we continue to buy into it... literally.
