Square Enix is teaming up with cloud gaming company Ubitus for the release of MMORPG Dragon Quest X on mobile devices this winter in Japan.

Through Ubitus's GameCloud streaming service, Dragon Quest X players will be able to play the game on iOS and Android gizmos using either their device's touchscreen or a Bluetooth-enabled controller.

Unfortunately, we Europeans can't get too excited about this announcement given the confirmed Japan-only nature of the game.

As Polygon notes, however, Square Enix has been ruminating over a North American version of Dragon Quest X for PC, Wii, and Wii U for a while. Instinct tells us that if Squeenix does end up releasing that version of the game outside Japan, it'd do the same for the mobile edition.

According to Siliconera, the mobile version of Dragon Quest X will boast all of the content present in the PC and console versions of the game.

We'll definitely keep an eye out for any updates regarding Dragon Quest X surfacing on Western shores on mobile.

If you've got a DS, though, you can always satiate your desire for more of the RPG franchise by playing the Gold Award-winning Dragon Quest IX.
