Dissidia Final Fantasy is punching and kicking its way to mobile in Opera Omnia

Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia Final Fantasy’s flagship brawler is headed to mobile quite soon with Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia. The game had a successful launch in Japan, and now Square Enix is taking the game on the road, bringing it westward for all of you Final Fantasy fans itching to get in on the fight.

Opera Omnia will be a spin-off of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, which launches on PS4 at the end of the month. Warriors from your favorite Final Fantasy realms will battle it out in turn-based combat rather than the real-time battles you might be used to in other Dissidia games. The Final Fantasy universe seems like an odd choice for a fighting game at first blush, but the series' dozens of well-loved characters and their innumerable unique abilities actually makes for a darn good beat 'em up.

In a new turn for the series, you’ll be playing a more strategic role, waiting for your characters Bravery build until the perfect moment, when you can release a powerful attack on your opponents. You’ll find powerful characters from throughout Final Fantasy history, though it does look like the game operates on a gacha system in which you’ll collect characters using Gems.

Free-to-play whatsits aside, Square Enix has seen a good deal of success with past mobile games (well, except for that Final Fantasy XV game), which bodes well for Opera Omnia. Games like Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius and Final Fantasy Legends 2 have done quite well for themselves.

You can pre-register for the Android version on Google Play right now, or follow the game on Facebook and earn 5,000 free Gems at launch. Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia releases later this winter.
