The Coco Controller will turn your iPhone into a PSP
Assuming it hits its Kickstarter goal
A manufacturer of a new smartphone controller case has turned to Kickstarter for funding. No, it's not the Bladepad - nor is it the GameKlip. This one is called the Coco Controller, and it looks pretty impressive.
Milkshake Labs's slide-on Coco Controller contains an analogue stick and a D-pad. It also features a six-button layout similar to a PSP (four on the right side with two shoulder buttons), while leaving the iPhone's volume and home buttons accessible at all times.
But, what makes the Coco Controller stand out from its wealth of competitors is its dead-easy setup: it connects to a smartphone through the audio jack, and requires no syncing, additional software, or battery of its own.
Slip, slide, and awayAlthough the Coco Controller was built primarily with iPhones in mind, there's nothing to stop it from working with an Android device. Its creator points out that it's compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S III, and that it also works with an iPad via an extra adaptor.
Ultimately, its maker hopes that the Coco Controller is used in conjunction with the Apple TV to deliver a dual-screen experience similar to the one offered by the Wii U.
With the Coco Controller's manufacturer confirming that 31 iOS games already support its new peripheral, it definitely looks like it has a future.
If this sounds like a project worth backing, you can reserve an Early Bird model via Milkshake Labs's Kickstarter page for $35.
