In the latest Clash Royale update which launched yesterday, Supercell has pulled an about turn and added the ability to mute emotes. Likely to prevent people from getting upset by trolls.

Supercell's original stance was that invoking an emotional reaction from its players was integral to the game, so was resistant to add the option despite a number of the player base requesting it. Here's the original quote:

"The same principle - evoking strong emotions - is at the heart of why we're not planning to implement a mute option. Emotes are loved by some and hated by others - even within the Clash Royale team! We believe these strong emotions are integral to the core of the game."

Also included in the update is a brand new tournament mode in which you have to rack up 12 wins to win the top prize. Get three losses before you hit 12 and you're out though.

This comes in two forms: Classic Challenge, which only costs 10 gems to enter but rewards a top prize of 2000 gold and 100 cards, or Grand Challenge, which costs a whopping 100 gems to enter but ups the reward dramatically. For those brave enough to enter, you could walk away with 22,000 gold and 1100 cards.

The previous crop of tournaments have also been updated with new gem and gold prizes, and you can choose between four different tournament setups.

Been crying out for a new chest? Well, you've got one. The new Legendary Chest and Epic Chest rewards a legendary or several epic cards respectively from any arena, and can be bought from the shop or won in battle.

And now when you reach a new arena, you'll get a special one-time offer. Special offer cards stacks will also be made available for newly released cards.

Speaking of new cards, four are inbound. We only know about one of them right now, and it's called Mega Minion. You can check it out in action above, but you'll have to wait a while for the others, as they're set to release one by one bi weekly.
