2K hopes Civilization Revolution 2 will improve upon the lackluster original when it conquers iOS on July 2nd

2K has announced that Civilization Revolution 2 is the next installment of the long-running strategy game series to be coming to mobile. It'll arrive on iOS on July 2nd; Android soon after.

The first Civilization Revolution did not impress us when ported from PC to iOS back in 2009. This was largely due to it lacking the accessibility required for the touch screen.

2K is hoping to avoid that injury this time around by having this sequel built exclusively for mobile.

It also notes that mobile technology has come far in the past five years. This has allowed for significantly improved graphics and controls.

Despite these technological improvements, Winston Churchill's likeness in the game hasn't fared much better. He looks more like the Churchill dog in the adverts than the man himself.

Civilization Revolution 2

That's not too much of a worry, mind. As long as Revolution 2's controls and user interface really are "intuitive" and "friendly" (as 2K claims), it should be an engaging strategy game.

Oh, and you'll be waging war, conducting diplomacy, and researching new technologies through the ages, as always. History's most intrepid leaders will work with and against you once again, too.

We'll get to see how Civilization Revolution 2 turns out when it arrives on the App Store on July 2nd. It will be coming to Android soon after that date.
