Updated on September 24th, at 9:47: Champ Man 16 is indeed out worldwide for iOS. You can grab it right now from the App Store for free.

The game is also available on Android, and it's free to download on Google Play also.

Let us know how it is in the comments below, and how it stacks up against the utterly mediocre Champ Man All Stars.

Original story follows…

Champ Man 16

If one free to play football game wasn't enough for you this week, try this one for size. It looks like Square Enix will launch Champ Man 16 on iOS at around midnight tonight.

This one is all about being the big boss man behind the team, as you hire and fire players, design training programmes, choose formations, give instructions, and then watch all your hard work pay off when your team kicks all the balls.

This year's version adds Singapore and Australian leagues, and South American and Asian Champions Cups.

The game's been expanded to 20 seasons, you can now apply for new jobs, and there are improved matchday graphics.

Champ Man 16 will be free to download on iOS.

We should note that this may just be a soft launch, meaning the game will be exclusive to New Zealand for a while longer as Square Enix tests the game. We'll know for sure in a few hours.
