Castlevania Grimoire of Souls is a side-scrolling adventure that lets you play as characters from across the series

Castlevania Grimoire of Souls is the latest entry in the Castlevania series and it's heading exclusively to mobile. Announced really at the Tokyo Game Show the game will be coming to both Android and iOS, though there's no set release date yet.

The game's narrative will focus on Genya Arikado who made his first appearance Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. At the start of Grimoire of Souls, he receives a letter telling him the Grimoires have awoken and that his help is desperately needed. Now Genya is apparently a nice enough bloke as he heads off to provide aid.

You won't be limited to only playing as Genya though. Grimoire of Souls' whole schtick is that you can play as several of the series characters in the game. A few examples include Alucard, Simon Belmont and Maria Renard.

As you'd probably expect, they'll all have their own unique skills and abilities. Simon Belmont will have his trusty whip for instance while Charlotte Aulin will deal with foes by casting a variety of powerful spells. It will stay true to the series as a side-scrolling hack and slash too, so there's no Lords of Shadow shenanigans.

It will also have a multiplayer mode so you can team up with your friends to take on a mode called Bounty Hunt. Here you'll be tasked with defeating as many enemies as possible within a time limit. Based on the screenshots for this mode it appears you can play with up to four other people, which means you cover all based on the characters your team chooses.

Castlevania Grimoire of Souls will be available on iOS and Android. There's no official release date or pricing system available as of yet, but we'll be sure to inform you as soon as we know.
