You can pick up Carmageddon for free over the next 24 hours on iOS and Android

Roadkill

Product: Carmageddon | Genre: Conversion, Racing
For: Android   Also on: iPhone, Mobile, iPad

Carmageddon

If you're in need of some no-nonsense splatter-driving this evening, then you ought to pick up Carmaggeddon for free on iOS and Android right now.

Be quick, though: this promotion is only running for the next 24 hours.

Stainless Games has made Carmageddon free for a day to spread the love as Carmageddon: Reincarnation is being prepped for Steam Early Access.

In our review of this Silver Award-winning game, we said: "Carmageddon may have lost its sheen along with its controversial edge, but it's lost none of its schlocky, multilayered charm."

You can pick it up on the App Store [download] or on Google Play [download] for free now. The clock is ticking, though...

The fact is, I purchased carmageddon when it was released originally, Im old enough to have been there, and then some, it was fun and different. Sometimes games don't age well, Because of the time it was released and what it brought to the table I enjoyed the whole concept, now I don't, and I don't think its aged well at all for the reasons I stated. This is what they call an opinion, not all of them are the same and that's good. I also ended my original comment with "Some may like it, but its not for me.". For the record, I don't like Angy Birds and I don't like Temple Run, best recent release games have been Bardbarian and Castle Doombad. Both are based on old concepts, but have been tweeked to play well today.

Sarcasm! The noblest of humors!
Eh, I have played it mostly without controllers. I just got a phone and it is perhaps the best toilet game ever invented. It does not require thought or anything else, just play the game.

Are they planning controller updates?

Discussion's fine Convict. The sarcasm in "But I guess you failed to pick up on that. Anyway good luck with Angry Birds and Temple run" is not.

Back to the game though: I'd be interested to hear why you think this version is so good. I had trouble with the touchscreen controls personally. Are you using a controller?

Eh, what is unpleasant? To write that somebody did not 'get' a game? Not a single swearword in my post. I am just tired of hearing a game is all over the place when if you install it on your Android device it actually plays like a charm. The fact that you don't like a retro feel to it... and start saying that it is bad... hey to me that is unpleasant.

Hey Convict, keep discussion pleasant please.

I'm not a huge fan of this version, but I did like the original. Worth a quick look from a historical perspective, definitely.

Hey Funem, you must be like 18 at the most?
The point was that you got to play the 1997 version on your iphone. But I guess you failed to pick up on that.
Anyway good luck with Angry Birds and Temple run.

I love car / driving games but even for free I would have to give this a miss. The game is all over the place and the graphics are a mess, Ill give it credit that its like the original its ported from but the original was really big because of the shock value at the time due to the nature of the game. Now its just a bad driving game with bad graphics. Some may like it, but its not for me.
