Gearbox Software has been seen demoing a version of colourful FPS sequel Borderlands 2 on Tegra 3 tablets.

Rather than the anticipated sneak peek at Nvidia's incoming Kepler GPU, attendees of annual LAN party PDXLAN 19 were treated to a quick glimpse at an Android version of Borderlands 2.

This will be excellent news for the Android users who helped make Borderlands a sleeper hit when it arrived on home consoles in 2009.

Shooter fans were pleased by the game's otherworldly environments and exciting gunplay, while the RPG crowd embraced its focus on XP and weapon customisation.

At the moment, we can only speculate as to whether this Tegra 3-powered adaptation will be a full-on Android port of Borderlands 2 or a stripped-down version of the console sequel.

We'll update you as soon as we know more.
