If you're one of those people who really loved Blade Runner 2049 and have been wondering how to get more out of the film without wearing out your DVD, then Next Games' mobile game take on the movie might be worth a look, and it's just gone into open beta on Android.

As spotted by our sister site PocketGamer.biz, Next Games' Blade Runner 2049 has you collecting characters from the series to battle enemies and complete quests. Think Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes with a bit more noir and bit less Wookie and you're probably on the right track.

There's also a multiplayer component, letting you team up with your buddies to take on bigger challenges and form "resistance cells". So, clans then.

Personally, I thought Blade Runner 2049 was a load of old tosh, but we could argue for days about the particulars on that hot take and not get anywhere. The game looks alright though, and with Next Games having made a name for itself with two quality The Walking Dead titles, it appears to be in safe hands.

All that said, I can't for the life of me work out where to sign up for the open beta of Blade Runner 2049. We also don't know when it's coming out for everyone, but it's nice that we have at least some details now, right? Watch this space in case we learn anything else.
