Battle Spheres challenges you to assemble a team of champions and dominate the arena.

Your goal is to collect the eponymous battle spheres and slingshot them into your enemies to bring them down. You can also hit your teammates to fire off some incredible skills and spells.

You can enlist the help of your friends in real time cooperative multiplayer - and you'll need to do so to clear the most difficult stages.

With a vast variety of Battle Spheres to summon, capture, and evolve and an entire world full of dungeons and quests to explore, Battle Spheres is chock full of multiplayer content.

We spoke to Gareth Yeo, Director of Business and Technology at Gtoken about how Battle Spheres sets itself apart, the challenges faced during development, and what's planned for future updates.

What do you think Battle Spheres offers that you can’t get from any other title on the App Store?

"Battle Spheres is a multiplayer experience. Whether it's in the arena, co-op, or live dual stages, our aim is to make other players you interact with in the game matter more than just bringing a powerful friend to clear stages.

"We have asynchronous multiplayer where you take control of the entire real player opponent's team with a smart AI in the arena and synchronous interactions between players in co-op and Live Duel game modes."

What challenges did you face during development, and how did you overcome them?

"We listened to tough feedback from our own team, as well as the publisher, and integrated the changes.

"We're a team of individuals who take pride in our work - sometimes too much. Listening and validating feedback which forces us to backtrack on the effort already put in is always a difficult task.

"Keeping focused on the big picture and how any changes might be beneficial to the finished product helps you to overcome the inertia involved with big changes.

"Examples would be changing the difficulty curves in the game, adding lore and a backstory, and preparing the game framework to account for translations into more languages."

Which part of Battle Spheres are you personally the most proud of and why?

"Developing a healthy and actively engaged community in careful design of the different components of the game.

"We're also proud of the technical implementations we put in place allowing us to add game content and tweak game balance without having to update the app on the respective app stores."

Do you have anything planned in terms of future updates for Battle Spheres and, if so, can you give us any details of what these might include?

"We have plenty in store for players! New stages are always being added to the game, driven by the continuation of the game's story.

"New game event types are constantly being thought of and implemented with the focus of encouraging interaction between players.

"As a collectible game, we're also constantly adding more and more Battle Spheres to the game!"

Have you any plans to bring the game to any other mobile platforms, such as Android, iOS, or Windows Phone?

"No plans for integrating other platforms at the moment, although we are constantly watching developments in other markets and have the capabilities to pivot quickly."
