NCSoft’s newest game, the MOBA slash battle royale Battle Crush has hit beta recently, and we were lucky enough to spend some time getting hands on with the new title.

Better yet, we also got the chance to get to grips with how currency works in game, so when Battle Crush finally hits a full release, you can jump in knowing what’s what. So if you want to know what Gems and Coins do in Battle Crush, here’s what they are and how to get them!

Loadsa’ Gems

Gems are probably the most straightforward currency. If you’ve played almost any mobile game before you’ll be familiar with how they work. But for a brief rundown, Gems can be used to purchase cosmetics, the battle pass, other items and likely even more down the line.

Luckily, given this is an open beta you can hop in at any time (servers for European playtesting are open from 17:00 to 01:00 UK time) and get a feel for the game. You’ll also get some complimentary gems if you open your messages to thank you for playing.

We’d say to spend them wisely, but at the same time there’s no guarantee progression will be held over when the game fully releases, so feel free to spend as you wish! Most likely you’ll be able to purchase gems from the game’s shop in future, but daily log-in rewards are almost a guarantee, so exercise restraint because gems are in short supply.

Master of Coins

Coins are also straightforward, as this will be your bread-and-butter currency. It’s not as widely used as Gems and is mainly used to purchase smaller items such as dyes, which can be combined with other consumables to unlock Calixers (the playable characters in-game).

Unlike Gems, you won’t get these as a complimentary bonus for playing the beta. But they’ll be most likely available either as log-in rewards or as common rewards for completing/winning matches at full launch.

Battle Crush is already proving to be a pretty intriguing spin on the battle royale formula, and the MOBA elements are very clear with the variety of cosmetics and playable characters already on offer. We’ll be dropping a short guide on how you can get started with tips and tricks, and keeping this one updated as time goes by to let you know how you can get the most Gems and Coins as easily (and cheaply) as possible!
