BBall Tactics is an upcoming turn-based basketball mobile spin-off of cult RPG Barkley 2

Tales of Game's Studio has confirmed that a Barkley 2 spin-off mobile game is on the way. And it's called BBall Tactics.

It's a 3v3 turn-based basketball game that sort of resembles Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics.

You determine the actions of your three players each round, and then your player takes its turn. It has as much depth as Blitzball from Final Fantasy X, upon which it's modelled.

"Ballers will gain Job Points on successful completion of actions, which increase their 6 core stats; there is a League(s?) and a Championship; there are Zaubers," reads the announcement on Kickstarter.

You'll also be able to play online against friends and grow your own team of quirky basketball players.

On court, you're be able to switch between offensive and defensive stances; assign guarding positions; dribble the ball; and much more.

In the video below, you can find out more about the kinds of tactics available in the game.

If you're not familiar with Tales of Game's Studio and its Barkley, Shut Up and Jam games, then BBall Tactics might not seem that exciting.

The first Barkley game that came out in 2008 for free on PC is a bizarre sci-fi RPG that assumes Space Jam actually happened in our world. It picked up a cult following.

Its sequel was successfully funded on Kickstarter back in 2012. In fact, BBall Tactics will be included in that 'package'.

As for the mobile version, well, BBall Tactics will be heading to iOS, Android, and Windows Phone as a standalone game. With any luck, it should surface later this year.
