Easily one of the most iconic western RPGs of the late 90's, Baldur's Gate offers a rare glimpse back at time when games came on five CD-ROMs and required a bit of patience and imagination to fully appreciate.
Skyrim this is not, but the story, scope, old school appeal of Baldur's Gate make it an easy game to be excited about - even if you have to familiarise yourself with the concepts of THAC0, saving throws, and sleepy mages nodding off to remember their spells.
While there's no denying that the iOS version of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition was a "peened and polished" update over the original iteration, we did find a few issues with it during our review.Namely, "the transition from a mouse cursor to a touchscreen has been handled with all the subtlety of a war hammer to the chest" - which translates to "the controls can be pretty frustrating sometimes".
Still, there's a ton of content in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition for your money.
In addition to the full, ~60 hour game, Enhanced Edition also features the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion along with the The Black Pits battle arena add-on.
