Backflip Studios, the developers behind freemium build-'em-up DragonVale, announced a new Dungeons & Dragons-based mobile game this weekend at PAX Prime.

Speaking to Polygon, Backflip CEO Julian Farrior and creative director Ryan Drag explained that this new game will merge several genres, such as "castle defense" and "raiding," and feature heavy customization and PvP elements.

The game, still untitled, will have players building heroes based on classes from the 5th Edition of D&D. It is part of an effort to bring the world of D&D to an even larger playerbase.

Expect to see it around 2015 (hopefully with a name by then!)
