Those who frequent our 3DS, PSP, and PS Vita sections are probably familiar with XSEED Games - a publisher known for bringing Japanese roleplaying games to the west.

Now, XSEED has crossed into the world of mobile games with Ark of the Ages, a JRPG that features 3D, console-style graphics, an immersive battle system, and plenty of good 'ol fashioned dungeon delving.

What’s more, XSEED's president and CEO Shinichi Suzuki intimated that Ark of the Ages is the first of many mobile titles to be published under XSEED's banner in the year ahead and that his company is "…looking forward to bringing fun and innovative new (mobile) titles to our fans."

Ark Angels

Ark of the Ages has players assume the role of a young knight sent to investigate a series of mysterious incidents at a small village located close to the ruined - and ominously named - Tower of Magic.

As players investigate the tower, they'll toggle between third-person perspective for navigation and puzzle solving and first-person combat when they encounter monsters.

On the navigation side, Ark of the Ages features a dual-stick control interface that console players will no doubt find familiar, but once combat begins Ark of the Ages becomes a truly mobile gaming experience with swipes across the screen simulating sword slashes.

Ark of the Ages is available now on Google Play for $1.99 / £1.49, and XSEED has confirmed that an iOS version will follow in the weeks ahead.
