An all-time Google Play analysis report from App Annie released today confirms the most downloaded apps and games since its launch in 2012.

The key findings from the report are that games are the number one category on the Google Play store, accounting for 40% of all-time downloads and a whopping 90% of all-time revenue.

Outside of games, communication and social apps also scored highly on both revenue and downloads.

Surprisingly, Subway Surfers is the most downloaded Google Play game ever, followed by Candy Crush Saga.

Rounding out the top five is Pou, Temple Run 2, and Hill Climb Racing.

Interestingly, Subway Surfers doesn't feature in the Top 5 all-time revenue.

Puzzle & Dragons
has earned the most cash on Google Play, followed by Clash of Clans, Monster Strike, Candy Crush Saga, and Game of War - Fire Age.

Since the launch of the Google Play store in Q1 2012, Google Play downloads have risen by 3.8 times.

During that same time period, global revenue has increased an astonishing 35.7 times.

This goes to show that the Google Play store continues to go from strength to strength, and is even starting to outstrip the AppStore in a variety of ways.
