Classic Amiga platformer Another World - 20th Anniversary leaping onto Android 'in a few months'

Developer DotEmu has announced that it's bringing the special 20th Anniversary iPhone and iPad version of classic 1991 Amiga adventure Another World to the Android Market "in a few months".

If you're too young to remember as far back as the early '90s, Another World sees you take on the role of protagonist Lester Knight Chaykin, who must use logic and skill to survive on a strange alien planet.

As in the iOS edition of the title, you'll be able to easily switch between the game's classic graphics and some nifty new HD visuals using a simple two-fingered gesture on your device's screen.

Remastered music and sound effects, and a touch-based control mode - not found in the original, naturally - are also all on board.

Hard as nails

Another World is widely acknowledged as one of the most challenging platformers around, but there will be three different difficulty modes for you to choose from when the game hits Google's digital store.

Finally, this Android version of the game will arrive packing support for social gaming network OpenFeint, meaning you can unlock achievements as you progress through the game's story.

We'll let you know as soon as we have a solid release date.
