Angry Birds Fight! is a free to play match three puzzler with RPG elements.

You fight your way across different themed-islands, participating in match-three battles with another bird in multiplayer or one of those pesky pigs in single player.

Each level is thirty seconds long, and tasks you with matching bird heads together to increase your attack and defence stats. You gain an even greater boost if you match three heads identical to your own.

You can also match four or five birds at once to gain a special ability, like encasing your opponent in a wooden crate. This prevents them from playing until they tap all crates that appear on the screen.

Fight!

At the end of the level, you and your opponent fight it out. Battles are entirely based on statistics so you can only watch as the, admittedly hilarious, animations play out.

Win a fight and you earn exp and gold, and you might get an equippable item like a weapon, hat, or sunglasses.

These increase your base stats and occasionally offer perks - skills that give you a new ability like increased play time.

You can enhance equipment with gold - a costly action but worth it for the increased stats.

What's the point?

The problem with this system is that sometimes battles have been won or lost before they even begin - an issue compounded by the lack of a reliable matchmaking service.

You'll often face much higher level opponents that, even if you have the best match three round of your life, you'll never beat.

You're also powerless to react during the animated battle sequences which makes you question why they're even there.

What was wrong with this just being a multiplayer match three puzzler again?

Angry Birds Fight! - A bit of a mismatch

An unbalanced multiplayer match three puzzler with some unnecessarily tacked on RPG elements, Angry Birds Fight is pretty much a total mismatch
