Bodes well for gaming

HTC, the company that manufactures the Android-running G1 handset, has today increased its sales forecast for the system by a whopping 67 per cent.

The Taiwan-based hardware manufacturer previously predicted sales of about 600,000 units by the end of the year, but DigiTimes reports that CEO Peter Chou today upped that figure to a recession-defying 1,000,000 units.

All of which can only bode well for future support of the platform by games developers, especially once the new retail model is introduced next year.

So far, Namco has added a version of its timeless classic Pac-Man to the free-to-download Market service, while mobile stalwart Glu has chipped in with the really rather good Bonsai Blast.

Here's hoping these figures trigger a flood of announcements regarding further support in the coming weeks and months.
