Glasses-less 3D Android phone prototype revealed
Arriving mid-2011
Those wondering when the current trend for all things 3D would make the inevitable switch to smartphones should pay attention right about now.
Videogame UI company Scaleform has been showing off a prototype 3D device running on Android OS.
Master Image and NVIDIA are the companies behind the technology, with the latter contributing a Tegra processor.
Vitally for a 3D mobile device, and in much the same way as the Nintendo 3DS (which Scaleform will also be supporting), it doesn’t require special glasses to achieve its 3D effect. The technology was demonstrated at the GTC 2010 event, and was captured briefly by Netbook News.
According to Scaleform, these 3D devices will be flooding the market in smartphone and tablet form from the middle of 2011.
