Amazon is reportedly working on an Android powered-console to go on sale later in the year
|

Everyone's making Android consoles nowadays. I mean, I'm considering welding a Dreamcast controller to my old Galaxy Tab and selling it for £100 on eBay.

And if reports are to be believed, Amazon is about to throw its enormous multi-pronged hat into the ring via an Android-powered console of its own.

According to Game Informer, Amazon is aiming to release its as-yet-unconfirmed Android console on Black Friday.

Amazon will apparently ship the console with its own bespoke controller. The console itself will be be "core-focused"... whatever that's supposed to mean.

Amazon already has form when it comes to Android-powered hardware, for its Kindle Fire and Fire HD tablets run a heavily modified version of Google's mobile OS.

Furthermore, The Big A already has an Android app store chock-full of games AND an in-house game development team.

Amazon is certainly well positioned to make an Android-powered console, then. We'll keep you posted when, or if, we hear anything more about it.
