Dependable 2D platformer 2-bit Cowboy is a game that tips its pixel art Stetson at the Game Boy, and renders its blocky world and characters in four greenish hues to make it look like a retro handheld game.

It's been out on iOS for ages, but it's now available on Android too.

This isn't a straightforward game about bounding from A to B. The levels are actually sprawling open-world areas where you can find job sheets and wanted posters, which help you earn money to upgrade your cowboy (or cowgirl).

We called it a "surprisingly expansive platformer that combines Game Boy visuals with open level design to decent effect" in our Bronze Award review of the iOS version, early last year.

Sound good? 2-bit Cowboy's yours for 69p / 99c on Google Play.
