Time for a facelift?

Rumour: Amazon may unveil Kindle Fire 2 on July 31st
|

Way back in February, Chad Bartley, an analyst from Pacific Crest, speculated that Amazon would launch an updated version of its 7-inch Kindle Fire tablet this summer.

Well, lo and behold, Bartley's prediction may just have been on the money.

A "credible source" has told CNET that the giant online retailer will unveil a second-generation Kindle Fire this summer and that it's "targeting July 31st" for its launch event.

CNET's anonymous source also revealed that the updated Kindle Fire would pack a camera and physical volume control button. He / She didn't confirm the device's processor, whether it would boast Bluetooth connectivity, and how much onboard storage it would have, though.

Given the news last week that the Amazon Appstore is going to open in Europe later in the summer, we wonder if the Kindle Fire 2 may be launched worldwide at the same time. We'll, as ever, keep you posted.
