It's easy for us to get all high-horsed about cheat devices. As among the highest-calibre games-playing professionals of our generation, we'd never stoop to such underhand tactics.

Eh? What's that? You saw us lurking around GameFAQs desperately looking for a walkthrough at 3am? Erm, well, yes. Quite.

Truth is we all need a helping hand once in a while, which is where Datel's Action Replay device for DS comes in. Promising to 'blow your games wide open', the Action Replay DS employs real cheat codes to open up your DS games, giving you Infinite Lives, Infinite Health, All Vehicles, All Levels and more.

According to Datel, the Action Replay DS is simple to use. You simply insert the supplied Action Replay cartridge into your DS or DS Lite, and switch it on. You then replace it with your game card. Action Replay recognises the game in question and fires up the title's cheat code list.

Importantly, the Action Reply DS can be updated whenever new games come out. But unlike previous similar cartridges, you can now update the cheats from Datel's website via a PC and the USB cable supplied, rather than by having to type cheat codes in by hand.

Datel has paid cheaters working around the clock on the latest DS games, and claims games will be broken into 'within hours' of hitting the shelves. Exactly why someone would want to break into a brand new game they just paid good money for in order to turn it into a walk in the park rather defeats us, but hey, we're naturals.

The Action Replay DS cartridge costs £19.99 in the UK (or $24.99 in the US). Remember, cheaters may triumph, but Winners certainly Don't Do Drugs
