The cheap end of the scale is hotting up

With the recent launches of the Motorola Droid/Milestone and Google Nexus One there’s been a flurry of activity in the high-end Android market.

However, while those high-profile phones have caught the attention of consumers worldwide, it doesn’t mean there’s a lack of activity at the other end of the scale.

With the likes of the HTC Tattoo and LG InTouch Max already on the market, the Android “budget” sector is becoming increasingly crowded - and leading computer manufacturer Acer is about to add yet another name to the list.

The Acer E110 would appear to be gunning for HTC’s aforementioned Tattoo, with a similar design and (one would assume) a fairly equal spec.

However, Acer itself hasn’t actually announced the device as yet - all details released so far regarding the E110 have come from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, which holds the licence for the wireless technology.

From what we can gather the E110 (which will most likely undergo a name change before it is officially launched) is intended for European markets, so you can expect some kind of announcement soon.

In the meantime, if you’re looking to enter the Android arena but don’t have the funds to afford a top-of-the-line Nexus One, it’s probably wise to bear in mind that your options may soon become even more expansive.
