Not exactly a new broom

Just when you thought it was safe to leave the office, minesweeper, that addictive time-guzzler loved and loathed by wage-slaves everywhere, is coming to your mobile.

Brought to handsets by Digital Chocolate, the chaps behind classics like Tower Bloxx, Absolute Minesweeper sees you using logic to clear a screen of squares of mines, without being blown to smithereens by clicking on one of the hidden bombs.

As well as a purist's classic mode, Digital Chocolate has made things more arcadey with an 'Absolute' mode, which sees you
uncovering bonus items such as time freezes and crystal balls.

Multiple difficulty levels, four different skins, and various customizable features are promised, and you can also post your high scores to a community board.

Let's face it, it's still minesweeper, but short of actually sending you out into the channel against real floating bombs, it's hard to see how the game could be made more exciting.

It's familiar, famous, and no doubt will ensnaring a new generation of minor minesweepers when it hits the portals any moment now.
