SciFly II becomes Above & Beyond Air Combat

Aerial action sequel takes on new name, impressive new look

SciFly II becomes Above & Beyond Air Combat

Developer Axios Games has turned away from creating sequel SciFly II, opting instead for a brand new flight combat game entitled Above & Beyond Air Combat.

Josh Rosen, the game's designer, explains the decision to move in a new direction came as a result of massive modifications to the game's design. Having veered so far from the look and feel of SciFly, Rosen decided to taken on a new name.

Beyond the name change, Above & Beyond boasts a score of difference from SciFly including a dozen new aircraft, an expansion open-world environment, three modes of play, and Open Feint support.

The core Conquest mode has you seizing each island from enemy control, whereas Survival mode pits you against an endless wave of enemy forces. There are also time trial runs through obstacle-riddled islands in Gauntlet mode.

Over 60 islands make up the seamless world, varying in terrain from tropical rainforests to volcanic mountains to glaciers. You'll be able to move between islands with minimal loading.

Also promised is the ability to customise any of the game's dozen aircraft. Along with visual personalisation, you'll be granted access to weapons, thrusters, shield, and other upgrades.

Above & Beyond Air Combat will arrive on the App Store this fall.
