Xenoblade Chronicles remake is exclusive to the new 3DS models

Nintendo has announced a 3DS remake of Wii action-RPG Xenoblade Chronicles is on the way exclusively to the handheld's latest models.

The announcement was made during a Japanese Nintendo Direct broadcast by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata today.

In the broadcast, the latest 3DS model as well as the 3DS LL was announced. Both have more powerful CPUs than previous models.

This new hardware has allowed for the Xenoblade Chronicles remake for 3DS that Nintendo has apparently wanted to do for a while.

It wasn't previously possible due to the lack of CPU power in older models of 3DS.

Xenoblade Chronicles is an open-world high fantasy action-RPG that was originally released for the Nintendo Wii in 2011.

Typical of the genre, you set out as an adventurer to save the world from being destroyed.

You use swords and magic to defeat dragons, giant robots, and other beasts as you journey. If any of this sounds even slightly exciting then the game is probably worth playing.
