Space western anime Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs might become a 3DS game

Ever heard of the 1986 space western anime Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs? It's about four heroes and the giant "Cowboy Mech" Ramrod fighting against the Outriders.

Whether you know it or not, former Nintendo employee Chris Strauss has teamed up with the anime's original creators at Studio Pierrot to turn it into a 3DS and PC game.

It's currently on Kickstarter where Strauss and his team are hoping to raise $75,000 to bring the game to life.

If successful, it'll be a 2D 16-bit style run ’n’ gun shoot-’em-up. There will be 12 missions, four playable characters (Saber Rider, Fireball, April, and Colt), and "Challenge Phase" mecha battles.

It'll also have voices provided by the anime's original actors and a new soundtrack that revamps the show's original music.

Also confirmed is that the 3DS version will have Play Coin support and stereoscopic 3D.

You can nab yourself a copy of the 3DS version by pledging $25 towards Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs on Kickstarter.
