[Update] Pokemon creator Game Freak reveals eShop rhythm-platformer Harmo Knight
Meowth, that's tight (Updated with debut trailer)
Pokemon developer Game Freak has hung up its Pokeballs for a while to make a rhythm-based platformer for the Nintendo 3DS eShop. It's called Rhythm Hunter: Harmo Knight.
It's essentially an endless-runner, but everything you do - from beating up enemies to collecting musical note coins - adds a beat to the soundtrack. Play the game with some skill and you should conduct music while you play.
It's a bit like DS and iPhone platformer Maestro! Jump in Music. There are also shooting sections and giant screen-filling bosses.
It's an all-new IP (though you might hear a Pokemon song if you listen carefully, as a nod to the developer's roots), with fresh characters and locations. It's the first time that Game Freak has made a non-Pokemon game since Game Boy Advance adventure Drill Dozer.
The game will launch on the eShop in Japan on September 5th for ¥1800, which is about £14.99.
There's no word from Nintendo on whether this will be released outside of Japan, but, hey, here's hoping. We'll let you know when / if we hear more.
