There's a new
Pokemon game coming for the Nintendo 3DS. Whoa, slow down there, partner - it's not the next big RPG in the series, unfortunately, but it's still worth getting excited about.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth is the next in the
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon spin-off series, and is the second
Pokemon spin-off for the 3DS, following
Pokemon Conquest earlier this year.
According to Japanese magazine
CoroCoro, as translated by
Siliconera, we're looking at a winter release for
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth in Japan.
Judging by how long it took for the past games in the series to reach our shores, that would mean we're probably looking at a summer 2013 debut in the UK.
Deeper and deeperFor those who are yet to play a
Mystery Dungeon game, let me break it down for you: a dungeon-crawling roguelike with Pokemon battling it out in a turn-based overworld map style. As you delve deeper into each area, you'll find stronger Pokemon to defeat, but also better, more rare items.
Once again, you play as a human who has for some reason turned into a Pokemon and who must now enlist the help of other Pokemon to help him / her turn back again. Apparently, there will be some augmented reality options in this new title - these will allow you to unlock extra dungeons by scanning objects in the real world.
We shall, of course, bring you more details as and when they surface.
