The PS Vita enjoyed another surge in sales this week (June 26th – July 1st) following the release of Metal Gear Solid HD and the new Crystal White-coloured handheld.

Vita Sales surged up 87 per cent from 12,100 units sold to 22,638.

Sales were up for Sony’s older PSP as well, jumping 16 per cent from 9,868 to 11,461 units sold.

Nintendo rules

Sales for the Nintendo 3DS were down slightly, falling just over 2 per cent from 66,953 units sold to 65,267. Despite the downturn, the 3DS still managed to outsell all other tracked consoles in Japan (Wii, PS3, PS Vita, Xbox, etc) combined.

On the software side of the equation, Nintendo once again seized the top spot with Pokemon Black & White 2, which sold 416,850 copies in the weekly period.

The second highest selling game, Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of the Land of Twilight – a PS3 roleplaying game – sold 75,874 units on its debut week.

To date, Pokemon Black & White 2 has sold 2,035,471 copies since its Japanese release date of June 23rd.
