Ready to enter Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth?

[Update] There's a new Persona game on the way to the 3DS and it looks cute
Updated at 5:08pm EST - We've heard back from Atlus USA and have learned that there's no official word on a US or European release for Persona Q just yet. We'll keep you updated if this changes. The original story follows.

When Atlus launched a teaser site that promised a Persona announcement, fans were both excited and nervous.

They were excited, because - really - who wouldn't want a possible sequel to truly excellent Gold Award-winning JRPGs like Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden?

And they were also nervous because, hey, it's Atlus. No one knows what to expect from it lately.

Now the curtain's been thrown back from the teaser site. While the true sequel, Persona 5, is coming to the PS3, the 3DS is getting some love with Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth.

All we know at the moment is that it looks like a mash-up of Personas 3 and 4, meaning that fan-favourite characters from Persona 3's SEES club and Persona 4's Investigation Team will return - as super cute chibi representations of themselves.

Unfortunately, we don't have too much to report on it otherwise past its Japanese release date (4 June 2014) and that series composer Shoji Meguro will return to field the music.

We've contacted Atlus USA to see if there's any indication of a western release and we'll update this story when we hear back.

Until then, check out the trailer below.
