Last Saturday, Nintendo announced that it would be releasing a 3DS firmware update sometime this week. That update is now available to download.

This software update finally introduces the ability to create customisable folders on your 3DS's home menu, which can be filled with up to 60 icons. To create one of these space savers, simply tap on a blank space on your home screen and select the 'create folder' option.

Furthermore, this refresh finally allows European 3DS gamers to connect to the Nintendo Zone - a free location-based interactive service that gives you access to upcoming trailers of games; product information; 2D and 3D screenshots; 3DS game demos; and video clips while on the move.

All you have to do is connect to one of 25,000 free Hotspot access points that are spread across Europe. You can use Ninty's newly released Hotspot finder tool to locate your nearest connection point.

You should be prompted to download this update the next time you connect to the internet on your 3DS. If you aren't, head into your 3DS's System Settings app and start the procedure yourself. To do so, select 'Other Settings' and then 'System Update'.
