Sega lines up five Game Gear titles for 3DS Virtual Console
Sonic, Shinobi, Columns all on the way
The 3DS eShop has got off to a rather inauspicious start, despite the undeniable quality of freebie Pokedex 3D and timeless (if slightly overpriced) Virtual Console classics like Super Mario Land and Link’s Awakening DX.
Still, the selection of retro titles is set to expand very soon, with Sega confirming it will be releasing five Game Gear titles for the service during the coming weeks.
Two Sonic titles are the headliners – 1994’s Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble is joined by kart racer Sonic Drift 2. Both have featured on compilations before, but this is the first time since their release that they’ve been available in portable form.
The pair are joined by Shinobi, classic puzzler Columns, and the comparatively little-known roguelike Dragon Crystal. No release dates have been confirmed, but all five should be with us before summer is out.
