Nintendo 3DS web browser will not support Flash or HTML5

No Youtube videos for you

Product: Nintendo 3DS | Manufacturer: Nintendo

Nintendo 3DS 3DS, thumbnail 1
The Nintendo 3DS web browser is set to be released on June 7th at the same time as the eShop, allowing 3DS users to 'surf' the web, or whatever the kids are calling it these days.

However, if specifications for the browser found on the official Nintendo site are anything to go by, it appears that the browser will be missing a couple of essentials.

As spotted by Nintendo 3DS Blog, the official specs note that neither Adobe Flash or HTML5 will be supported by the browser. This means that you won't be able to access a lot of online content, including browser games or even YouTube.

Of course, this is in line with the browser offered on the DS and the Wii, but we'd really hoped that Nintendo were going to offer a little bit more this time around.

The 3DS web browser does not work similar to a system one. In addition remember with the intention of your 3DS is not a computer, to upload a representation the web site determine to pop-up an innovative window through your folders and those things, the 3DS not be able to do that. @Davers the Wii browser has only ever supported Flash Lite not a proper full version of Flash that we see on Android phones or on a Mac/PC, it's pretty garbage, it's like browsing the web while being stuck in 2004.

No surprise here: this is kind of what you'd expect from a Nintendo browser. Nintendo continues their focus squarely on gaming with online connectivity/social features being a secondary afterthought. Personally, I could care less about a browser on the 3DS because when I finally do get the cash to purchase one I'll be playing 3DS and Virtual Console games on my system: not browsing the internet. My 2.

"This is in line with the browser offered on the DS and the Wii"? The Wii browser supported Flash at launch, and still does. YouTube works no problem.
