Nintendo has revealed more details about the 3DS's much-anticipated Tag Mode, which allows 3DS consoles to communicate with each other when in 'sleep' mode.

Appearing on a developer reel displayed onstage at Tokyo's Makuhari Messe, Namco Bandai's Yozo Sakagami revealed that Ridge Racer 3D will use Tag Mode to exchange rankings and ghost data.

Capcom's Yoshinori Ono, meanwhile, wants to use Tag Mode to enable Super Street Fighter IV players to battle anywhere, either directly via conventional wi-fi vs matches or automatically by walking past another 3DS owner. Watch the video below to see how it works.

Konami's Love Plus apparently enables you to lie to your girlfriend using Tag Mode.

Tag Mode will also enable 3DS owners to exchange Mii data. It'll be possible to create and customise Miis using Mii Studio.

The 3DS is due out in Japan on February 26th, and Europe and North America in March. It'll probably cost between £180 and £200.
