Incoming! The most exciting 3DS games for March 2015

3DS

The New 3DS madness has settled down, so it's time to play till our eyes get sore.

No doubt many of you are still bashing monsters in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, or tracking down every last heart piece in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, but there's still plenty more on the way.

Seems those of you in the U.S.A and Canada have the advantage this month, with a few fairly big titles hitting your shores sooner than us in Europe. It's fine... stiff upper lip and all that.

A special shout-out to Square-Enix for continuing to fan Theathrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call's flame with more NieR, Chrono Trigger, SaGa, and Final Fantasy DLC. My wallet cries no, but my thumbs plead yes.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars
Nintendo - 5th (North America), 20th (Europe)

The 6th iteration of the platform puzzler series that spun out of Donkey Kong on the Game Boy. This version features a workshop that'll allow you to create your own stages and share them via Miiverse.

Nintendo's first cross-buy title, meaning you'll also unlock the Wii U version of the game, and sync progress between both versions.

Proun+
Engine Software - 5th (North America, Europe)

Better late than never! Joost van Dongen's multi-award winning abstract wire racer Proun was released on PC back in 2011.

This version is much the same as the recent iOS update, with more modes and tracks, alongside brand new music.

OlliOlli
Roll7 / Curve Digital - 5th (North America, Europe)

While the PlayStation Vita has already nabbed the sequel, we're happy to see the original make a safe landing on the 3DS. Pull off sick tricks to complete hundreds of challenges.

I still insist this is more of a falling over simulator than a skateboarding autorunner, but that may just be down to my severe lack of gaming prowess.

Features cross-buy and and cross-save with the Wii U version.

Zombie Incident
CoderChild - 5th (North America)

The month wouldn't be complete without a pseudo-retro game hitting the eShop. This cheap and cheerful action platformer was originally coded for the MSX for a contest back in 2011. Just my cup of tea.

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.
Intelligent Systems / Nintendo - 13th (North America)

The team behind Advance Wars and Fire Emblem have made a steampunk Valkyria Chronicles-esque third person turn-based strategy shooter. A dream for some, and a mouthful of indecipherable words for others.

Scanning the Marth, Ike, Lucina, and Robin amiibo figures will unlock them as playable characters in-game, just so you feel a little better about having spent fifty quid on toys.

3D Out Run
M2 / SEGA - 12th (North America, Europe)

Get ready to bask in the Magical Sound Shower that is Out Run. Obsessive remastering guru M2 keeps the SEGA classics flowing, and this classic arcade racer could be their best yet.

Fossil Fighters: Frontier
RED Entertainment / Nintendo - 20th (North America)

Set out on your buggy to dig up dino fossils, bring them to life, then battle them against other dinos. This is the third time the series has made it to the States, despite having never hit Europe. Please don't spoil the fun by alerting PETA to its presence.

Inazuma Eleven Go: Chrono Stones - Thunderflash / Wildfire
Level-5 / Nintendo - 27th (Europe)

Inazuma Eleven is still being a tad cheeky by releasing two versions of each game, each with different scenarios, characters, and equipment.

This footie RPG is based heavily on the ongoing anime series, so you'll probably appreciate it a whole lot more if you're into that. Keep scoring and recruiting members for your squad until you have the best darn team out there.

Story of Seasons
Marvelous AQL / Xseed Games - 31st (North America)

Harvest Moon in all but name thanks to some intellectual property issues. Expect the usual crop farming and livestock handling, only this time with more of a focus on selling your products online.

Japanese highlight:

Shin Tennis no Oji-Sama: Go to the Top
FuRyu - 5th (Japan)

Here's a visual novel of sorts based on the New Prince of Tennis manga and anime. That's right, you don't actually play any tennis in this.

Instead you spend a lot of time chatting to team members in ridiculously awesome tennis jackets. Peculiarly for tennis players... these characters don't seem static when they talk.

The only action-based moments appear to be during timer-based minigames, one of which sees you massaging a teammates back. I knew I was never one for tennis.

Chance for localisation: 7% - Hey, maybe if you stream New Prince of Tennis non-stop back-to-back on the Nintendo Anime Channel they'll give localisation a shot. What? It's not on there? Er... move along!
