Incoming! The most exciting 3DS and PS Vita games for October 2013
|

As we gear up for the Christmas period, Nintendo is getting ready for a holiday blast.

It's only October, and already the 3DS release schedule is looking pretty hot. There's a new Pokemon, a new Phoenix Wright, a new Sonic...

The Vita line-up isn't looking quite as exciting in comparison. But there are still a few bits and pieces to keep you interested during the autumn.

Here, then, are the most exciting releases for October for both 3DS and Vita.

Nintendo 3DS

Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl
By Atlus - coming to 3DS on October 1st in the US

This gorgeous Japanese RPG is a remake of the 6-year-old Etrian Odyssey. Expect some lovely new cutscenes and visuals. Oh, and voice acting.

Beyblade: Evolution
By Rising Star Games - coming to 3DS on October 4th in Europe, and October 29th in the US

The Japanese Beyblade franchise has completely passed me by, but I'm very much aware that it's pretty big with kids.

This latest game in the child-friendly series will be available in two different versions. The more expensive one will come with a Wing Pegasis or something like that. You probably know better than I.

Pokemon X and Y
By Game Freak - coming to 3DS on October 12th

Here's the big one. This is the next evolution of the Pokemon series, and it's the first handheld version rendered in true 3D (instead of the top-down 2D). Expect my review of this soon!

Skylanders Swap Force
By n-Space - coming to 3DS on October 13th in the US, and October 18th in Europe

Skylanders is another massive kids franchise that has sailed right on by me. This is the third game in the series, and will no doubt sell by the bucketload.

Sonic Lost World
By Dimps - coming to 3DS on October 18th in Europe, and October 29th in the US

Oh, Sonic, will you ever be fun again? Sonic Lost World looks like Super Mario Galaxy but with Sonic in it. Will it be any good? Let's be honest - it will probably be rather average.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies
By Capcom - coming to 3DS on October 24th

You know when I said up there that Pokemon is this month's "big one"? I take that back. There are TWO big ones, as the long-awaited next instalment in the Phoenix Wright series finally lands. I. Am. So. Excited.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate
By Armature Studio - coming to 3DS on October 25th

Blackgate is the handheld companion to the main Origins game on console. Hopefully, it will be just as impressive, and not just a stripped-down version.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes
By TT Games - coming to 3DS on October 18th in the US, and November 15th in Europe

The Lego series has become a little stale of late, so perhaps Marvel Super Heroes can 'shake things up' a bit. I'm looking forward to taking control of Lego Hulk, personally.

And the rest...

October 15th - Wipeout Create & Crash
October 22nd - Spongebob Squarepants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge
October 29th in US, Nov 1st in Europe - Angry Birds Star Wars
October 11th - Turbo: Super Stunt Squad
October 29th in US - Monster High 13 Wishes
October 29th in US - Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby in 8-Bit Land

PS Vita

Atomic Ninjas
By Grip Games - coming to Vita on October 2nd in Europe, and October 8th in the US

This one looks interesting. It's an online multiplayer battler in which you take control of ninjas with superpowers. Definitely one to watch out for in October.

Worms Revolution Extreme
By Team17 - coming to Vita on October 8th in the US, and October 9th in Europe

You know what the world really needs? Some more Worms games. I just feel like there haven't been enough, you know? Thank goodness there's yet another one here to save us all from our Worms-free lives.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes
By TT Games - coming to Vita on October 18th in the US, and November 15th in Europe

The Lego series has become a little stale of late, so perhaps Marvel Super Heroes... Ah, you get the picture.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate
By Armature Studio - coming to Vita on October 25th

Blackgate is being developed by Armature Studio, the founders of which were key members of the Metroid Prime Trilogy. We're expecting big things, basically.

And the rest...

October 29th - Angry Birds Star Wars
October - Furmins
October - Invizimals: The Alliance
